It’s the rebellious cousin to Malaysian wood, defined by deep knots, weathered tangles, and an aged, river‑worn look. That lived‑in texture makes it ideal for hardscapes that should read like century‑old timber hauled down a fast river. Instead of clean shapes, it offers a chaotic network of twists and crags that demand attention. Use it to build dramatic, wind‑swept river roots or a wild, overgrown jungle layout. Preparation and Care
Pacific Driftwood is a natural product and requires a bit of prep before it’s ready for prime time.

1. Rinse: Thoroughly rinse the piece to remove any dust or debris from transit.
   
2. The Floating Phase: Unlike Malaysian wood, Pacific Driftwood is buoyant. It will float initially. To keep it from bobbing like a cork, we recommend soaking it thoroughly or boiling it. A large stone or heavy decor may be placed on top to ensure a non-waterlogged piece of wood stays submerged.
3. Tannin Management: This wood will release natural tannins, giving your water a warm, "tea-colored" tint. This is a natural occurrence, and the effects will subside over time. If you prefer the crystal-clear look, boil the wood for 1–2 hours or soak it in a separate container until the water runs clear. You can also reduce this effect through consistent water changes or through the addition of Aquario Neo Carbon Bag

Important note: We recommend rinsing wood thoroughly before adding it to an established aquarium. If you prefer, you may also boil the wood for at least 1–2 hours to help release tannins.
